23 Crosses
By Pastor Wilson
Martin Luther once said, “The cross alone is our theology.” And isn’t that true? Everything we believe as Christians comes down to what Jesus has done for us on the cross. Without Jesus dying on the cross to pay the debt of our sins we would be lost. Without Jesus’ death in our place we would be faced with paying the price of our own sin- a price we could never raise. But through Christ’s sacrificial death in our place we are no longer in debt- rather we are forgiven and we are free.
As a Pastor’s family we have been blessed to receive several crosses as gifts over the years. We have put up many of them on a “Cross Wall” in our dining room. At present we have 23 crosses hanging there. Each cross is so different- in size, shape, story, and design- and yet they each remind us of the heart and soul of our faith- that Jesus died on the cross to pay the debt of all our sins. To help us remember and reflect on the cross of Christ and the victory won for us there by Jesus throughout this year ahead- I’m writing a devotional series based on each of the crosses on our cross wall. Look for the devotions over the next year on our blog here at TrinityZanesville.org and in the pages of our monthly Newsline.
