Hello! My name is Eli Shaw. I was installed as the Vicar at Trinity on August 4th, 2019. My family and I have been incredibly blessed to be given this opportunity to learn and serve God’s people here in Zanesville this year.
Both my wife and I come from large families with deep roots in southeast Ohio. The Hocking Hills is a beautiful place for us to call home. Lindsey and I were baptized, confirmed, and married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Logan, Ohio. It goes without saying that God has blessed us in many ways throughout our lives. My daughter Rylee is also one of these blessings. She loves arts, crafts, and just about everything that I am interested in, including Star Wars and Batman (she is obviously Batgirl). My family anticipates getting to know you during our time here. After this year, we will move to Fort Wayne, Indiana as I finish my last year of seminary before receiving a call into the Holy Ministry.
My desire while serving at Trinity is to know nothing among you except Christ and Him crucified (1 Corinthians 2:2). The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is the foundation for the hope we have as God’s people. Because of the cross, God forgives our sins for the sake of His Son. Because of the empty tomb, we too are promised a resurrection. The gift of God’s Son is the greatest blessing any of us has received. I hope and pray that in everything I do, whether in preaching, teaching, or day-to-day conversation, Christ is at the center of it all. What a joy it is for us that God sent His Son into the world to suffer and die for our sins on the cross, thereby restoring our relationship with Him.
Let me know if I can be of help. You can give me a call, an email, or stop by my office to say hello. May God bless you as you hear God’s Word, receive His forgiveness, and grow in faith at Trinity.
